Position Title: Security Officer

Division/Office: Department of Campus Police

Employment Type: Full-time, classified, non-exempt. benefitted

Job Description: The full-time Security Officer will maintain a safe and secure learning and working environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors at PVCC. Monitor and make rounds to ensure the safety and security of PVCC community members and facilities. Officers must be accountable for their actions and dependable in their attendance and should demonstrate these characteristics through their dutiful attendance of all scheduled shifts and appointments. Officers also must be available for contact during emergency situations.

Responsibilities:

Lock and unlock College buildings, doors, and classrooms
Provide visitors and College community members with information and directions to campus buildings, classrooms, and off-campus areas
Notify campus police of suspicious persons, activities or safety hazards found during tour of duty
Maintain accurate records and logs of activity
Operate security & state vehicles
Respond to complaints and make preliminary investigations.
Create student & staff ID’s, process student & staff parking decal requests
Answer alarms and disturbances, contact police, fire, & rescue in case of an emergency, and follow established College emergency procedures.
Patrol among visitors and College community members to preserve order and protect property.
Answer phones, emails, and other forms of communication in a professional manner.
Patrol parking lots and issue warnings to persons with rule infractions and utilize the ticketing system for parking violations.
Provide escort, via provided campus vehicles, to individuals to a specified location or to provide personal protection.
Provide limited assistance when individuals are experiencing motor vehicle issues.
Monitor and check fire & safety devices. Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Possess good judgement, discretion, and excellent interpersonal skills.
Must be computer literate (MS Office or equivalent). High school graduate or equivalent.
Three years of post-high school experience. Have a valid driver’s license and good driving history.
Successfully pass a background check, including criminal history and driving history.
Have and or be able to obtain and maintain CPR/AED / First Aid, Naloxone (Narcan), and Campus Security Officer certification. Have basic knowledge of the campus environment and/or the security industry, relevant laws, and safety and fire prevention.

Additional Considerations:

Prior experience in Criminal Justice or related field, OR two years of law enforcement experience preferred.
Demonstrated strong student orientation and customer focus.
A strong service orientation and a demonstrated ability to work in a diverse, multicultural community, and excellent written and verbal skills.

The Department of Art History seeks a dynamic and student-centered educator to teach an introductory survey course covering art from the prehistoric era through the 13th century. The course includes examples from selected regions of Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Americas, and introduces students to visual analysis and other art historical methods through illustrated lectures and discussion. ARTH 103. Survey of Art I. 3 Hours. Semester course; 3 lecture hours, delivered online and face-to-face. 3 credits. This introductory survey of art examines artistic production from the prehistoric era through the 13th century, including examples from selected regions of Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Americas. Illustrated lectures demonstrate visual analysis and other art historical methods while identifying key monuments and artists’ work in relation to historical contexts. Key Responsibilities Teach ARTH 103: Survey of Art I in accordance with the approved course description, learning outcomes, and departmental expectations. Prepare and deliver lectures, readings, assignments, discussions, and assessments that support student learning. Introduce students to visual analysis, art historical methods, key monuments, artists, and historical contexts. Provide timely feedback and academic support to students. Maintain regular communication with students and the department regarding course expectations, progress, and academic matters. Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and student progress using university systems. Foster a respectful, professional, and intellectually engaging classroom environment. Adhere to departmental and university policies and procedures. Required Qualifications Master’s degree in Art History or a closely related discipline. Demonstrated teaching experience at the university level or relevant professional experience in art history, museum studies, curatorial practice, or a related field. Strong written and verbal communication skills in English. Demonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment of respect, professionalism, and civility with faculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCUarts Qatar. Eligibility to work in Qatar or meet applicable immigration/employment requirements under Qatari law. Preferred Qualifications PhD in Art History or a closely related field. Previous experience teaching art history survey courses at the university level. Experience using learning management systems and educational technology. Experience teaching in international or multicultural higher education environments. Evidence of student-centered teaching practices.
